Sailors wanted for Carousel
We have now cast all of the principal roles for Carousel (which will be running at the Crescent Theatre from 13-17 April 2010), and rehearsals are going well. However, we could still do with a few more men who can dance a bit to play sailors/ dance with the ladies at the clambake social. You don’t have to be experts – as long as you can keep time to music, we will teach you all you need to know. If you think you fit the bill and want to know more, please call our membership secretary, Stella Rourke on 07950 242114, or contact us for more details.
Snow Children enjoy the snow!
Those who know the story of Carousel will be aware that two of the main characters (Carrie and Enoch Snow) have several children by the end of the show, known as “The Snow Children”. A few of our younger cast members made the most of the recent cold snap, becoming Snow Children for real…
Still buzzing from the success of our recent production of Oliver! we are very excited to be starting all over again in rehearsals for our next show - Carousel - which will be running at the Crescent Theatre from 13-17 April 2010. Most of the principal roles have now been cast, but we are still looking for someone to play the male lead role of Billy Bigelow, and for a man who is (or would be able to appear) around age 20 with some ballet/dance training. We are also always on the lookout for new faces to join the chorus or to help out behind the scenes. We are especially looking for men who can sing and dance a bit (don't worry, we will show you what you need to do!) to appear in the chorus numbers. At the moment we cannot take on any more ladies to take part in Carousel, but please don't be discouraged from contacting us if you are interested in being a member, as we are now operating a waiting list and would hope to get you involved in future projects as soon as possible. If you are interested in knowing more, please call our membership secretary, Stella Rourke on 07950 242114, or contact us for more details.
Show week is now well underway and we were delighted to see that our production of Oliver! has been described in the Birmingham Mail as:
"...an energetic and engaging show...", and "...an impressive production..."
