Godspell, with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz (‘Wicked’), is a contemporary interpretation of the Gospel according to Matthew, taking us from Jesus’ baptism by John to the crucifixion.
This fabulous celebration of community, tolerance and love in difficult times has something for everyone (young or old, religious or otherwise), and was a fitting choice to celebrate The Arcadians’ 40th anniversary year.
Its toe-tapping music includes the hit songs ‘Day by Day’ and ‘By My Side’. The Arcadians’ production featured a 40-strong cast from ages 8 to 85 and also set the production against a Birmingham backdrop, bringing a local flavour to the story.
